Be inspired by the stories of our persecuted brothers and sisters! At the VOM ADVANCE conference, speakers from around the world share personal testimonies about God’s faithfulness in the midst of persecution. Join us to learn how God’s kingdom is advancing, even in the face of fierce opposition. Meet your persecuted family face to face, and let God use their stories to challenge you to a deeper, bolder walk with Him.

The conference rekindled my desire to pray for others, to stand in the gap and, again, intercede for those who are persecuted for His name.

Conference attendee

You make the persecuted real to us by sharing their pictures and their stories, and I feel like we know them through our prayers.

About The Voice of the Martyrs

The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) is a nonprofit, interdenominational missions organization that offers practical and spiritual help to persecuted Christians around the world. Founded in 1967, VOM is dedicated to inspiring all believers to deepen their commitment to Christ and to fulfill His Great Commission no matter the cost. The Voice of the Martyrs continues in this mission around the world today through the following main purposes:

Our ministry is based on Hebrews 13:3: Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
  • To encourage and empower Christians to fulfill the Great Commission in areas of the world where they are persecuted for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • To provide practical relief and spiritual support to the families of Christian martyrs.
  • To equip persecuted Christians to love and win to Christ those who are opposed to the gospel in their part of the world.
  • To undertake projects of encouragement, helping believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries where they have formerly suffered oppression.
  • To promote the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of the faith and courage of persecuted Christians, thereby inspiring believers to a deeper level of commitment to Christ and involvement in His Great Commission.

Speakers

  • Dan Baumann
    Iran
In 1997, Dan Baumann visited Iran to share about the love of Jesus. He and a friend were arrested on false charges, and Dan received two death sentences. more about Dan Baumann

Dan Baumann was born in Los Angeles, California, where he attended El Camino Junior College before transferring to Wheaton College to complete a degree in business. He then joined Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and moved to Afghanistan to work as a volunteer at an eye hospital. He served as a hospital administrator full time for five years and part time for four years. In 1997, Dan visited Iran to share about the love of Jesus. He and a friend were arrested on false charges, and Dan received two death sentences. By God’s grace he was released after nine weeks in prison. The story of God’s miraculous work during this time is included in his book Imprisoned in Iran. In 1998, he moved to southern Colorado to join a YWAM training center and begin training and discipling young people. While in Colorado, he and a friend wrote a second book, A Beautiful Way, which openly and simply discusses how Jesus meets us in our walk with him. In 2007, Dan moved to Kona, Hawaii, to continue his work at another YWAM training center. He currently spends more than half of each year traveling to teach for YWAM and at churches and universities, challenging and encouraging people to run after and fall in love with Jesus. He spends the rest of each year at home in Kona, Hawaii, working with the YWAM Discipleship Training school. Dan’s passion is to see a generation of people discover who Jesus is and to help and encourage them to walk with Him in every area of their life. In January 2015, he published his third book, A Fresh Look at Fear.

  • Brother Fassal
    Pakistan
Pastor Fassal has served Pakistani Christians since 1998. He and his wife, Carrie, currently lead Grace Bible Church and its many outreach ministries, serving directly in Pakistan for about half of each year. more about Brother Fassal

Pastor Fassal has served Pakistani communities since 1998. Twelve years ago, he met and married an American missionary, Carrie, and together they began a journey of serving Jesus Christ by spreading His love and Word worldwide.

Their direct mission work in Pakistan usually extends from November through April each year. At Grace Bible Church in Pakistan, Fassal shepherds a flock of about 200 people, with well over 400 attending on Christmas and Easter. While in Pakistan, Fassal teaches believers face to face every morning as well as twice on Fridays and Sundays. Even when he is in the U.S., he provides his flock with encouragement and Bible lessons through Skype.

Grace Bible Church offers a variety of ministries in Pakistan: Outreach sends a team of two men to several villages each week to pray with and encourage Christian families living in remote areas; Grace Academy English Medium School educates 187 extremely poor children, with the goal of not only teaching them to read and write in two languages but also introducing them to the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him; the church’s 3:16 Children’s Home currently cares for 25 orphans; and Grace Theological Seminary is directing men in theological studies.

When in the U.S., Pastor Fassal and Carrie travel as missionaries, teaching and encouraging young people at various youth camps. Along the way, they share the Gospel and update local church bodies on how God is working in Pakistan.
